Rebirth and Resurrection

Atabey; Resurrection by Inaru Kinti aka Ivy Nightingale | Created June 6th, 2025

This iteration of Atabey is a rendition of previous versions. The use of Taino petroglyphs and body art symbolism are used to illustrate the Caribbean Universal Mother. The introduction of vector art programs were used, giving the piece smoother and crisper lines.

Since the creation of the piece, Ivy started to deeply listen to studies from
Professor Alphonso who leads Taino Studies, and Irka Mateo an indigenous musician from the Dominican Republic, both dedicated to preserving the native culture. Textbooks from the artists’ personal collection were also used to cross reference and mentally red-line outdated material as we decolonize and piece back together ancestral memory.

! Prints and products related to this piece will be available in the future.

I created some prototype designs for physical products that should arrive within the week. More details and images of the products will be posted once they arrive and are thoroughly inspected, filmed and photographed.

ART ACTIVISM; Quantum Time Loop

I took part in the Cultural Survival Bazaars art contest in order to spread awareness of native culture and also awareness about the pollutants that have been encroaching sacred waters both locally and globally.

To design such a message on a T-shirt was challenging but fun. This gave me the chance to become very creative and birth new art concepts and ideas for future illustrations. I wont be able to share the design until the event managers announce the winners.

During the time I designed the shirt, my thoughts were in memories of Long Island New York in the 1990’s; I remember how the beach badly needed a clean up crew, even back then. It then came to me how time itself was not linear, but it certainly moves in spirals through memory and it is enforced with action.

So for several days I studied many images of purple clam shells for the T-shirt design.

'We have been here before;' becomes a thrilling truth to correct the course and reset to better, happier decisions. I recall trying to design my first t-shirt as a teenager and failing with the concept designs, even back then. However, failing never stopped me from building. For a good portion of things, I was simply in the wrong environment to operate smoothly.

Aside from that, I have also made the commitment to work on this website and fully establish myself online with how I originally intended all those years ago.

"I must practice what I preach, for it is the only way to teach."
